We love to show off our more creative skills when it comes to the Royal Cornwall Show. Each year Jo Mounce puts an incredible amount of thought and energy into planning the display and how to make it even better than the last.
‘The Greatest Showman’ is one of the biggest musicals in recent years and the songs are still being played on the radio 18 months after it’s release so the idea of doing a display along it’s theme was always being bounced around. Then when rebranded earlier in the year and ‘brought the brand back to the land’ it suddenly made perfect sense to reintroduce ourselves at Royal cornwall Show using the story.
Like a circus Jo wanted an element of fun and surprise. It wasn’t long until hose pipes and pumps were being modified and fixed up to create a cheeky squirt that came right out of the elephant’s trunk as he showed off his beautiful torso made of gerberas by spinning centre stage. Not only that but we added performers to this year’s display with our fantastic stilt men who greeted the crowds and handed out Strawberry fields vouchers and freebies!
To walk into the flower tent and see our winning large gold medal was fantastic. It gave the whole team such a high to know the months of effort and late nights were worth it and that all the new and old faces that would visit us during the show will enjoy our award winning display just as much as us!
The show was busy from start to finish and even when Friday did get a bit soggy our pasties and bakery treats soon put smiles back on faces. It’s great to get such a positive response from everyone who visits our flower display and see the 100’s of photos being taken. Now to start thinking about next year’s!
If you haven’t yet visited us at Royal cornwall Show make sure to visit the flower tent next year, down by the dog show and live timber displays.
