The Mounce family here at Strawberry Fields recognises that times are uncertain with recent developments around Corona virus.  While we hope that there is no significant health risk to those around us the hospitality industry along with other local businesses has definitely started to feel the effects.

We want to reassure our customers that we are doing everything we can to make sure that all risks are minimised.

The official advice of hand washing as been strong and a key factor with the local media to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.  Hand washing has always been a key control measure for food safety but we have emphasised this with our team here to ensure the strictest of hygiene is adhered to at all times.

We ask for your corporation in this too by using our hand washing stations around the shop and restaurant – please wash your hands when you enter the building.  We are making sure that all foods including all of our bakery items are wrapped and sealed along with our morning goods that you would normally just see behind a ‘physical’ glass barrier.

Trolleys and baskets are being disinfected at regular intervals and we do have gloves if customers would prefer to wear these when carrying out their shopping.

Door handles in particular along with other direct contact points such as fridge handles, checkout areas around the building are also being cleaned and disinfected at regular periods throughout the day and more frequently when footfall is high.

We have advised our team to not directly take money out of customers hands but drop money/change on the counter and we would encourage contactless payments wherever possible so please don’t think that we have lost our touch when they drop your change on the counter in front of you!

We are communicating very closely with our team ensuring that they have the up – to – date advice and guidelines.

The health of both our team and customers is paramount and we are keeping a very close eye on the World Health Organisation advice to ensure we are following all guidelines.

So for now we are business as usual and will continue to be a responsible source of food for our customers. We are taking each day as it comes – you still have to eat after all.  We will quickly adapt to any rules and regulations that may arise in the future but as a strong local business we are here to support the local community, other businesses around us and in particular those that are most vulnerable.

As long as we have ingredients we will keep producing and make sure that all our customers have the food and other items that they need!
